Rafe was furious that Ed called him back to heaven just as he was finally breaking through to Livvie. Ed warned him that he had almost told Livvie the truth, and he reminded the angel that such an act was against the rules. When Rafe railed against his inability to help through dreams and innuendoes, Ed showed him what would have happened if he had told Livvie the truth. Rafe was horrified by the vision of Livvie's death by drowning. He realized that his powers of love were greater than Caleb's, and he pledged anew his vow to help them all. Ed sent him back with renewed confidence. While babysitting baby Daniel for Eve, Livvie started having flashbacks of the things she had done on Caleb's behalf. Frightened by the memories, Livvie took the baby out of the house to find some answers. In the catacombs, Caleb fantasized that Livvie came to him and thanked him for all that he had done to improve her life. Then Eve came in and delivered Daniel to him. In the fantasy, he and Livvie celebrated the completion of their family. Caleb vowed to make the fantasy come true. Ian took Eve to court for visitation rights with Daniel. Kevin stood by Eve's side for support, while Lucy was with Ian. Kevin was furious that Lucy was taking Ian's side, and he suspected that it was simply because Ian claimed to believe that she really had seen Christina. Lucy admitted that it was good to have someone believe her, but insisted that she was there because someone had to tell the judge what a good person Ian was. During the hearing, both Eve and Ian gave their version of events, but neither of them had any proof to back up their allegations. Lucy spoke on Ian's behalf and said that Eve had been very stressed out since the baby's birth. Eve interjected that she had only been nervous because a vampire was after her child. Ian attempted to explain to the judge, but he had heard enough. He told Ian and Eve that neither of them was fit to take care of Daniel, and he decided to place the baby in protective custody.
