Caleb gave Livvie a vial of poison and told her that if she didn't kill Jack, he would know that she really wasn't loyal to him. Livvie met Jack at The Recovery Room and asked him if they could try to be friends. Jack initially saw no point in talking to her, but he eventually relent and agreed to toast to a hopeful future. Livvie spiked his drink when he wasn't looking, but Rafe saw her and bumped into Alison, causing her to knock over the drink. Livvie ran to Caleb and tried to explain what happened, but Caleb was furious at what he believed to be her deception. Later, as Jack cleaned up the spilled drink, he was stunned to see the cloth turn black.
Jamal couldn't let go of his anger with Alison for meddling in his and Valerie's affairs. Though he believed that she hadn't read the results to the DNA test, he wasn't happy to learn that she had suspected he was Hope's father for weeks. Rafe comforted Alison when she cried over what she had done to Jamal's faith in her.
Jamal took Valerie into the bike shop and demanded to know the real reason she had come to town. Valerie admitted that she was in love with Jamal and wanted to be with him. Stunned, Jamal told her that he had never led her to believe they could be together. Rather than deal too much with that, Jamal focused on telling Valerie what he had learned about Hope. Before he could tell her, Alison came in and stopped him. She told Jamal that telling Valerie that he was her baby's father could ruin all of their lives.
Mac questioned Kevin's motives for helping Eve and wanted to make sure that Kevin wasn't neglecting Lucy. Kevin admitted that he had probably been guilty of hurting Lucy's feelings and knew that he needed to be more sensitive to her needs. When he told Mac that he had hired a P.I. to investigate Ian, Mac thought that was a terrible idea that could lead to more trouble than Kevin wanted.
Meanwhile, Lucy and Ian basked in the afterglow of making love, but ultimately decided that they were still just friends. Neither regretted their intimacy as they knew they were two friends reaching out in need. Unfortunately, the P.I. Kevin hired took photos of them clad in scanty attire and embracing.
